Why Register at GoFastAuction?

Only registered members can participate in the auction or the classified sections of GoFastAuction.  Registered members must be at least 18 years of age.  To become a registered member, click on the “Register” button on the main menu, and a page requesting your contact information will appear.  A confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided upon submission of registration information.  The enrollment process is not complete until confirmed by following the link in the confirmation email and pressing the “Confirm” button on the GoFastAuction confirmation page.

Why are GoFastAuction’ fees so reasonable?

The owners of the site felt the advantages of selling at some online auction sites were being lost by the fees charged.  The current fee structure is intended to encourage growth of our online community and to provide an effective alternative to higher priced sites.

When will fees be charged?

Members will be permitted an unlimited number of ad postings for a low yearly fee of $19.95 starting DATE.

  2. After pressing the “Sell” button on the main menu, completely fill out the item description form and choose your desired options.

Why won’t my pictures upload?

The most common reason a picture isn’t accepted by our Linux server is because the title of the file contains a symbol such as a pound sign (#).  Try renaming the file.

The picture file also has to be “web friendly.”  Pictures for the Internet must have one of the following format extensions at the end: .jpeg, .gif or .png

File size is another reason why some pictures won’t upload.  Pictures are limited to 100 kilobytes (Kb) each.  There are several ways to reduce the file size if your picture is too large:

  • Open the picture in a graphics-editing program such as Adobe Photoshop.  If the camera used to acquire the picture was set for a print resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) or more, you can reduce the resolution of the image to 72 dpi.  Computer monitors are incapable of displaying resolutions greater than 72 dpi, so there won’t be any degradation of the picture display by lowering the picture resolution.  There will be a noticeable reduction in file size though.  Do not go below 200 – 300 dpi if you anticipate people wanting to print out the picture.

  • Cropping or resizing the image is another way to reduce file size.  Try cropping out any unnecessary background first.  If that doesn’t work, scale the picture down.  The scaling percentage should suggest itself by virtue of the number of kilobytes in excess of 100 Kb.  For example, a picture of 200 Kb should be scaled down by about 50 percent.

  • Resave the picture in .jpeg format.  Your graphics program will ask how much compression to apply to the picture.  Choosing higher compression will reduce the quality of the picture in addition to reducing the file size, but since computer monitors are relatively low resolution anyway, the picture loss probably won’t be noticeable.  Experiment with compression rates to get the highest quality under 100 Kb in size.

What are Custom Bid Increments?

Custom bid increments allow the seller to control how buyers may bid on an item.  When placing your ad, choose the “custom bid increments” button and enter a U.S. dollar amount in the adjacent box.  The dollar amount specified controls how bidders may increase an offer to buy.  For example, if the bidding starts at $5,000 and the custom bid increment is set at $500, the next highest bidder will not be able to bid less than $5,500.

How much are the fees?

Members are permitted an unlimited number of ad postings for a low yearly fee of $19.95 starting DATE.
